Aaaaaaaaand….. done!

January 31st, 2011

About four years and two & a half months ago, I embarked on a mission: to do a fully Amplified English Translation of all the books contained in what I would come to know as “The Renewed Covenant” (rather than “New Testament”). Not knowing really how long it would take, I told someone “I’ll be finished by February”. Thankfully, I didn’t state what year, because then that really was a completely daft thing to say.

Anyway, I kept true to my words: I did finish “by February”… February 2011.

That’s right folks – I’ve finished! I’m done! I’ve finally completed the mission upon which I embarked with this, the publication of the translation of 2 Timotheos, both on the website, and in PDF form ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

A tiny, tiny word of warning: the translations in their entirety come to almost 815,000 words, so, please don’t think you’ll be able to read them all in one sitting, unless, of course, you can read at 565.972 words per minute, and can stay awake for 24 hours ๐Ÿ™‚

Now, I think I deserve a bit of a break, wouldn’t you agree?

Acts 20:7: Did they really meet on a Sunday?

January 8th, 2011

(To discuss this blog post, please go here)

Acts 20:7a (ESV): On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread…

There has been a lot of debate over the years regarding this verse (as well as Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:2, Luke 24:1, and John 20:1), as most English Bible translations would have us think that โ€œThe first day of the weekโ€ or โ€œSundayโ€ is mentioned at least 5 times in the New Testament/Renewed Covenant. But are they correct?

Most Christians would take this at face value and say โ€œYes, of course it refers to Sunday, as Sunday is the new Sabbath day,โ€ however most Messianics would say that โ€œNo, this is actually a corrupted translation of the Greek, and it actually refers to a Sabbath day, not to a Sunday.โ€

Letโ€™s first deal with the Christian interpretation of this verse.

Massive TWTY Update

January 5th, 2011

Since the release of the whole of the Book of Yahuchanon, I’ve been working hard over the holidays to complete what I’m releasing now: updates to every single translation here on TWTY. This includes translation mistakes that I’ve corrected, fixed grammatical errors, misquoted Tanakh quotes, and a whole bunch of other stuff too.

All translation webpages should have the updates on them already, and so should the PDF’s.

This does mean that other PDF’s that people have downloaded are now obsolete, but I’d also been working on a way to reduce the file size of all the PDF’s, so they should now all be available to download, and I’ve even included a package that let’s you download them all at once ๐Ÿ™‚

Acts of the Apostles
First Petros/1 Peter
Second Petros/2 Peter
First Thessalonians
Second Thessalonians
First Corinthians
Second Corinthians
First Yahuchanon/1 John
Second Yahuchanon/2 John
Third Yahuchanon/3 John
